HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESSICA

From My Own Little CornerToday is a bittersweet day. 27 years ago today, at 7:07 am, my first child, and only daughter was born. She weighed 5 lbs 7 oz and was 19 inches long. She had a head full of dark hair, and the darkest violet eyes I have ever seen. She was perfect in every way. I had to have an emergency c-section, as she was in distress, and had been for hours before she was born. Unforunately, it caused severe brain damage. As the unfeeling pediatric neurologist told me when she was 2 days old, "You have a very beautiful baby, and that's all she'll ever be." He was right about her beauty, and she never did develop past the infant stage, but in the short 4 1/2 years that we were privileged to be her caretakers, before she went home to her real Father, she touched more lives, and taught more people life lessons, than any other person I have ever met. She never learned to talk, to crawl, to physically touch, to look at anyone, to kiss, to hug, and she was such a tiny little thing, but her heart was the biggest that any one person could ever have. She was brave, she was a fighter, and she was fiercely loved by many.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESSIE!! Mommy misses you, and loves you more today than ever!
